This October half term the teams of YMIC Southwark and YMIC London teamed up for our annual youth camp. We had an absolute blast over four days of adventure, fun, reflection, prayer, and friendship.
It was truly inspiring to see so many young people from across London come together in beautiful surroundings to consider how we live out our calling to be people of hope in a world so often full of fear. Young people had the chance to engage in a range of activities such as high ropes, archery, shelter building, BMX biking, swimming, obstacle course challenges, games, and so much more. I was deeply proud of how our young people entered into the themes of lament, hope, and sending out during bible study and small group time.
On the final day we were joined by Bishop Martin, bishop of Kingston who met with each of our young people in small groups and was grilled with questions. In the evening, we gathered for our final campfire and gave out camp awards, and it was an amazing atmosphere of joy, fellowship, and team spirit.
Though our time at youth camp was short it was powerful and I saw real growth and development in each person during their stay. As the YMIC family we are looking forward to network events in the coming months and to next year’s youth camp which promises to be bigger and better than before.
